Getting Started with Google App Engine
Google App Engine is part of the Google Cloud Platform, and it’s a powerful set of tools. In this lunch event, we’ll hear from Jason Jones (Gain Compliance) who has a lot of experience using Google App Engine and can explain the difference between the service and its popular competitors like Amazon Web Services. We’ll be meeting at the Global Insurance Accelerator in the East Village at noon. You are welcome to BYOL (bring your own lunch). We hope to see you there!
Parking: Leverage street parking on 4th and Walnut first; if you can’t find parking on the street you can grab a spot in our lot (to the south of the building).
Access: From the front of the building, look for a door marked “Global Insurance Accelerator” and from the back entrance, come in under the awning and take the marked door to the left.
About Jason Jones
Jason Jones is the Chief Technology Officer at Gain Compliance in Des Moines. Jason is a multi-talented engineer whose interests and abilities extend well beyond writing software code. He is equally skilled at the design and execution of customer-facing solutions that solve significant, real-world business problems. During his six and half year tenure at Workiva, Jason played an integral role in the development of the core technology of Wdesk. He has served in a wide variety of roles, including Senior Software Engineer, Senior Manager, Product Manager, Director, and most recently Senior Director of Product Development. For part of his contribution at Workiva, he was awarded a U.S. Patent (#8739025 B2) for software which leveraged metadata to identify errors in structured data systems. Prior to Workiva, Jason held a variety of roles over a six-year span, primarily focusing on Oracle implementations. Jason holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Iowa State University and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. He lives in Urbandale, Iowa where he volunteers with his local Cub Scout Pack and enjoys cycling and hiking.
