Webgeeks 2011 kick off event, win an iPad!

The Web Geeks planning team is excited to announce our kick off event for 2011. We hope this will be the biggest web geek event Des Moines has ever seen. This event will be a bit more social and networking related. The event will be at Foundry Coworking in down town Des Moines on Monday, February 7th from 7:00 to 9:00.

Several sponsors have stepped up to provide some interesting door prizes, including books and coupons for free e-books from O’Reilly press and an iPad from Red 5 Interactive!

The informal topic will be “Everyone loves to watch train wrecks,” tales of web projects gone horribly wrong. Mostly it will be a chance to meet your peers in the Des Moines area and learn more about the Des Moines Web Geeks group.

How do you win the iPad?

Everyone who walks in the doors gets a shot at the iPad, it will be a random drawing. However, you can get an extra chance by doing one of the following:

Sharing a light-hearted tale about a project you were part of that went wrong (could be client from hell, pulling the trigger too soon, the world’s worst typo catastrophe, you get the idea) – one will be selected for a special prize and everyone who shares gets one extra chance at the iPad

Retweeting our announcement tweet to your followers – we want to get the word out!
